$50,000 Powerball Winner 'Tickled to Death'

Apr 01, 2026

A Missouri Lottery player said he fulfilled a dream when he won a $50,000 Powerball prize on Feb. 11. He purchased the winning ticket at Price Chopper, 896 S. 291 Highway in Liberty, and recently claimed the prize at the Lottery’s Kansas City regional office.

“I’ve played since I was 18 and always dreamed,” he shared. “I’m tickled to death. Somebody’s going to win it, may as well be me!”

His ticket matched four of the five white-ball numbers, as well as the Powerball number.

“We had to get our glasses out to make sure we were looking at the numbers right!” he laughed.

The winning numbers on Feb. 11 were 6, 20, 33, 40 and 48, and the Powerball number was 5.

The winner plans to celebrate his anniversary with a trip to Hawaii.

In FY25, players in Clay County won more than $39.3 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $2.9 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $17.2 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
